Born out of a passion for equity and opportunity, our foundation is committed to bridging the gap between underserved populations and the essential resources they need to thrive.

Our Story

The Rooted In Foundation was created in loving memory of my late grandmother, Mary Raven, whose spirit of giving continues to inspire me every day. As I reflect on her remarkable life, I’m reminded of the impact one person can make through simple acts of kindness.

Growing up in the heart of Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward, I witnessed her selfless generosity firsthand. With a warm smile and an open heart, she welcomed anyone in need into her home. She cooked and shared meals with countless neighbors, ensuring no one went hungry. Her legacy of compassion is the heartbeat of our mission—to serve our community with love, dignity, and unwavering dedication, just as she did.

My grandmother was a proud, remarkable Black woman deeply connected to her cultural roots. The name of our nonprofit, Rooted In Foundation, is a tribute to that heritage. She adorned herself with beautiful African-inspired jewelry, often wore vibrant headwraps, and decorated her hair with colorful beads—each element a celebration of her identity, pride, and strength. Just as she embraced her culture with confidence, our nonprofit seeks to empower others by nurturing a strong sense of community and cultural connection.

As we carry forward her vision, The Rooted In Foundation is committed to providing nourishing meals and vital support to individuals and families facing food insecurity. We believe everyone deserves access to healthy food and a welcoming environment. Through our programs, we honor her memory by fostering unity among neighbors and building a support network grounded in compassion, resilience, and shared values.
